Founded in 2018, Functional Medicine Yoga’s mission is to fill a void in the modern healthcare model by serving as a bridge between healthcare providers and their patients. We help people reclaim their sense of vibrant health and optimal function by considering the whole person, not just a set of symptoms. We look at each individual’s complex network of genetic and environmental factors in order to address the underlying causes of “dis-ease” and help clients achieve a state of holistic balance.
Our approach emphasizes behavioral, nutritional and physical training and is successful in helping people make the leap from wanting to improve their health and lifestyle to actually getting it done. Our one-on-one facilitation holds clients accountable in progressing towards self-selected lifestyle changes while allowing for flexibility to re-assesses goals and modify as needed. Ultimately, the coach and client will co-create a plan designed to implement sustainable changes that promote lasting health and wellness. There is no “standard treatment” with Functional Medicine Yoga; we offer a client-centered alternative to traditional medical and group fitness models with the core belief that YOU are the key to your own healing.

Founder, Morgan Malia
Like many on the path to healing, Morgan found herself sick and overwhelmed with multiple diagnoses ranging from PCOS to Hashimoto’s disease, IBS and even pre-diabetes! With a little research and insight, it was clear that the common thread in all these diagnoses was stress… Disheartened by the proposed solutions the doctors came up with, Morgan took her healing into her own hands by turning deeper into alternative therapies and the practice of Yoga. She spent years intensely studying with masters of both Eastern and Western healing modalities and adopted lifestyle practices that proved to not only heal the conditions she suffered from, but ultimately led to more energy, equanimity and empowerment in her life.
In 2016, Morgan found the Institute for Functional Medicine and immediately resonated with their mission. IFM’s alternative approach to medicine incorporated an understanding and respect for what Morgan considered to be the best of the Western model along with the wisdom of culturally-transcendent, ancient healing practices. The result was a system that is truly holistic and has the capacity to heal on many levels.
Today, Morgan is a Board Certified Functional Medicine Health Coach in addition to being a Yoga Alliance registered E-RYT and Continuing Education Provider. She is passionate about her role as a life-long student and researcher, constantly seeking to further her knowledge with leaders in the fields of Functional Medicine, modern yoga research and traditional Yogic studies. She has served on several non-profit boards and regularly offers classes, workshops, retreats and trainings across the globe while maintaining a private Yoga and coaching practice in Austin, Texas and online.

Our Team and Affiliate Partners
Castle Hill Fitness
FMY is proud to partner with Castle Hill Fitness in downtown Austin, TX. Their mission is to provide a welcoming environment for the Austin community to improve their overall health; to educate clients that overall health is more than just a fitness goal – it’s about community, variety, refueling, recovering, and challenging your mind and body; and to empower clients towards a greater quality of life with seasoned professionals, varied programs and disciplines, and conscious living principles all under one roof.
YourLabWork.com
FMY believes that understanding your individual biomarkers can play an important role in motivating diet and lifestyle changes that support overall health and well-being. Lab testing is an additional option with all of our coaching programs and we’re here to help you interpret your results. For affordable, easily accessible lab testing, we recommend our affiliate partners at YourLabWork.com.
Founded by physicians, YourLabWork.com provides consumers with direct lab access to advanced biomarkers that provide an enormous wealth of information. As technology in medicine has advanced, so has the desire of consumers to directly participate and often direct their health care. We, as a community, are progressively moving towards greater access to both testing and knowlege. Higher deductibles and less coverage for advanced testing has created a need for less costly and more transparent pricing. Direct lab access bypasses insurance and costly physician visits, enabling patients to obtain the lab work that they know they need.
